Do we need to be anxious about retirement?

People still tell us that the thought of saving for retirement is scary, but that doesn’t have to be the case.

I recently read Ben Bennett’s thought-provoking paper on what he calls ‘retirement anxiety’. Ben focuses on Japan, but what he describes resonates here too.

When we have interviewed people near retirement about what comes next for them, they often use words like ‘scary’.

In this brief video, I share some quick thoughts on this important issue.
